I'm going to write about Taekwondo. Or at least, how I get a Bronze medal without winning a battle.
Well, I started to practice Taekwondo two months ago. All classes were practiced at a multi-use room at Science Faculty. There I've learned many types of kicks, which is the base of Taekwondo. Of course, each class had some minutes to warm the body with running and many exercises. At the beginning, it was difficult, but along the time, I could improve my skills.
Last monday, we, the Science Taekwondo Team, went to the Student Olympic Games 2014 (JOE 2014), the big annual sport competition in the University of Chile. The Taekwondo competition took place at the Atletico Santiago Gym.
The first step was the Weighing. My sensei registered me in the category 64 - 80 kilogrammes. At the first weighing, I marked 81,6 kilogrammes. And my first combat was about to start in one hour. So I had to run 20 laps around the gym. Finally, I weighed 80 kg, and the judge said I was able to compete.
In the first combat, I won by walkover. My opponent did'nt came. So I advanced to Semi-final. There, I fought against a FEN student. Unfortunately, I've losed the fight by 8 - 3. But in points I've got the third Place, so I received the Bronze Medal.
I have to practice more for the next tournament. For now, I'm happy with this...

IRON MAIDEN: CHILE ES TU CASA!! (+ notice)
In my life, I never have got at a big concert like this. Previously, I've only assisted to local concerts and tribute band playings ("tocatas"). That day, October 2 of 2013 in the National Stadium, was one of those days I will remember forever.
It was the seventh concert in Chile of two of my favorite bands: the British heavy metal band, IRON MAIDEN and the thrash metal band SLAYER. Maiden it's one of the most famous metal bands from 70's to now. They play songs like "The Trooper" or "The Number of the Beast". Slayer is a Californian thrash metal band, which lead singer and bass guitar is from Chile: Tom Araya.
The atmosphere was so full of energy in every moment of the day. There were more than 65,000 people in the stadium. First, there was Ghost, an unknown band who started warming the atmosphere. Then, Slayer appeared in the scene. The crowd was crazy! I started to get crazy at the sound of the music, even in the "mosh pit". Finally, it was the time for Iron Maiden. I sang every song they played, as the other people in the crowd. "65,000 fucking people" as Bruce Dickinson (lead vocal of the band) said. It was an amazing concert that I will never forget!!
PD: I seize this post to tell you about the case of Álvaro Arancibia, a classmate from FACSO, who is under investigation by the police and the justice. Álvaro was arrested on Sept. 11 at the night by the riot control police. The polices tried to incriminate him of "throwing fire bombs". This is a mountage to criminalize to students who protest against the Government. We together can stop the lies of the State and his police dogs. NO MORE MOUNTAGES!!

Happy Birthday, Michael Jackson!
Today I decided to write about the
King of Pop, Michael Jackson, because today he could have 56 years... if he
were alive :(
Michael Jackson was one of my favorite artists
when I was younger. My dad introduced me his music when I was 5 years old, when
he showed me the “Thriller” music video. I really liked it.
Michael
Jackson started his music career when he was 6 years old, singing with his
brothers in The Jackson Five group. He worked in the group until 1979, when he
started his single career with the album “Off The Wall”. Then in 1983 he
published his most famous album: “Thriller”, which was the best-selling album
of history worldwide with 65 million copies.
He published many albums who were
best sellers, like “Bad” or “Dangerous”. But he started to have some health
troubles. In fact, he died on June 25, 2009 by a medicine overdose. When I
noticed about his death, I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t cried for him, but I
was a little shocked.
I remember
his figure, his artistic work, his achievements and his polemics. But after
all, for me, he is the King of Pop, and the music icon of the 20th
century. Wherever you are…Happy 54th, Jacko!

Gora Euskal Herria!
Well, hello everybody. I hope you are ok all of you. Many weeks
without writing... Ok, let's go to the week topic.
I want to go to Spain. I think it has an
interesting history, and I won't have troubles with the language,
because, obviously, they speak Spanish!
But in some communities, they speak another related languagues, like basque,
catalan, galician, etc. I like to go, specifically, to Catalonia and Basque
Country -better called Euskadi-, because they have different languages and a
desire of autonomy and Independence of Spain.
I want, first, to make a tour in Euskadi.
I want to know its people, its language and its history of independence. I want
to go to the San Mamés Stadium, in Bilbao city. There plays the Athletic Bilbao
football club.
Then, I want to make a tour in Catalonia. I want to know its
history, walk by the streets where there was a Civil War and Social Revolution
in 1936. And, obviously, go to a football play in Cap Nou Stadium, where the
Barcelona Football Club plays.
I don’t know If i want to live or study there, but I think
it will be a great experience.
